Section 112 Credits in the Boston Region

Section 112 Credits was a 1960s-era program that enrolled universities and hospitals in the project of urban renewal by allowing some of their expenditures for institutional expansion to count as "local contributions" to urban renewal projects, which the federal government would match at a 2-1 ratio. My dissertation maps the generation of $20 million in credits across three projects in Boston and Cambridge.
